I've not got the balls for spd's on mine yet. But where I ride regularly its a mud bath so I often have to foot down to save myself.

Presume you aren't using your road shoes though??

Not sure how much MTB you've done in past but I'd suggest some flat pedals to start with. It's a completely diff. kettle of fish to road (obv)Get used to bike before using spd's,

Spuds aren't that bad if you get the right ones. Crank Brothers stuff is good because the mud clears easily and there is loads of float on the pedal. Plus they're generally easier to get out of.

Bit of advice but I'm sure you know already. When storing the bike keep it in 9th/10th at the rear and granny ring at the front. Stops the chain and mechs being under tension all the time!

Not being anal, just generally they aren't interchangeable so would be weird if it's runnning two different shifters.

Ok mate I will need to get some fitness up then lol will ned a little notice so I can sort a baby sitter out which won't be a problem. I would advise on getting some more mud wet condition style tyres at the moment as a freind tried using them racing Ralph's in the mud the other day was quite funny to watch tbh

Don't have one but been looking at them too, I'll probably go for a Cyclops one.

I'm not sure I'd trust a bike with only one fork at the front lol looks properly strange, looks a nice bike though.

It does seem strange but they've been around for years. Cannondale have been the only company to champion them, although a good 5 - 10 years ago there was an aftermarket fork manufacturer doing them.

It does seem strange that they're still produce when all the mags talk about front end stiffness with tapered head tubes and 15mm axles on even the lighted XC/all mountain bikes.

Only the rear mech has compatibility problems due to different pull ratios used by Shimano and Sram on the rear mech. The fronts are interchangeable.
