just got back in from 36mile ride wanted 40 ideally but was getting hungry and didn't have anything on me plus I was practically home .

noticed 2 things... padded shorts still don't solve my arse pain + my neck aches after a while... any ideas on how to solve either of these issues?

A different saddle might help the arse pain, or just more riding maybe, not sure about neck pain tbh.

Just been out myself on my new 29er the weather is perfect for it today!

Weather seems a bit crap today. 22mph winds and heavy rain predicted for Cannock at the time I would get there to ride.

Will probably leave it for today...

This time next year I am going to cycle 1000 miles solo 'end to end' from Lands End to John O'Groats. This LeJog will be for Cancer research and in memory of my mate Dave who passed away 10 years ago next year. I will be keeping everyone updated with my progress on here and on my Just giving page(which im just sorting out). There is going to be a massive amount of training and organisation to do - I am not coming into this with a cyclists body or any experience of touring on a bike and im aiming at 80-100 miles each day. It will be a year long challenge that is going to involve losing weight, training, quitting smoking and funding and organising the logistics of the trip.

So far this month I have done 282 miles on the bike, 3 gym sessions and lost 4lbs

Yesterday I hit a new PB longest ride of 64.8 miles. That is pretty much my max effort at the moment..... Had a lot of pain in knees and lower back the last 10 miles which kind of knocked me out of a nice rhythm I was in for the first 40 miles. At least I know where I am now though .... Biggest thing that's gonna make it easier is shifting some weight off the pilot so that's the main goal now. I was more sensible with taking food and drink which definitely helped.

Got my eBay special hybrid up and running. 1st trip out on it tomorrow. Probably the 1st time out on the bike in a year.

Got a nice little route planned. Not to long probs less than 20 miles! Can't wait tbh.

I'm doing the cycle to work scheme so want to keep it cheap and i don't really think I warrant a carbon frame if I'm honest. Newbie to road cycling so just want something decent to get me going.

THinking about entering a couple of mountain bike races.

Souther XC in May at Crow Hill which is about 10 miles from me. Probably just go for the fun category and see how I get on.

And the SPAM Erlestoke also in may, 6 hour race.

I agreed to do a 800-900 mile (final route is undecided yet) charity bike ride this weekend. It's going to take place Easter next year and will be from Milton Keynes to the south of France. We'll be doing it at a reasonably leisurely pace over about 10-11 days

Time to get that road bike I convinced myself I didn't need

Some silly miles being quoted in here.

I'm not going to post anymore until people start being a bit more sensible.
