Any recomendations for tyres/inner tubes? Got a puncture on my Giant defy 1 a couple of weeks ago and need it sorted. Having to use the MTB is just not the same

Continental tubes have always served me well.
Check out their 'plus' tyre range. They're the kevlar lined ones that they market next to a box of drawing pins at local bike shops.

Schwalbe do them also. I have a set of their Lugano tyres on my Cube Peleton.

Get a decent set of tyres with puncture protection, most brands call them different things, and isn't referred to puncture protection. For example, Continental call it "ProTection Technology" (http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/technical_safety.shtml#protection) and Schwalbe call it SnakeSkin, although that is only on the sides, plus Double Defense.

I've been using the Slime tubes. I fitted them and first ride out I was riding along and a twig was stuck to my tyre. I stopped, pulled it off and turned out it was a thorn. As I pulled it out, air rushed out, followed by a bit of green gunk. Put a bit more air in and the tube has been fine ever since - any other tube I would have been changing in the rain!

I'm skeptical about the whole tubeless thing. Mainly because I do a lot of DH/Freeride with "hucks" and I wouldn't be confident in the tube staying on the rim.

iirc both the rims on my DH and XC are tubeless ready so wouldn't need to go ghetto

Continental gatorskin tires have served me impeccably on my road bike. When I got back from riding in France I pulled a piece of glass out the rear tyre, no puncture. Glued the slit in the rubber up with some CA and probably put another 1000 miles through the same tire since!

I use slime tubes but only because I run unprotected conti rubber queens.
Had 5 punctures on my front tyre on 1 ride a few months ago. Don't think I will ever use normal ones unless I go tube less.

I really need to get riding now, so fed up of not being able too. Hopefully get back on in a couple of weeks after my next visit to the fracture clinic. Really missing it.

RIP Front mud guard, came off in traffic this morning and I rode over it with a mighty crunch, looked back at a shattered mud guard and thought fuck it and rode off.

Can anyone reccomend something that I can fit and isn't going to come off every other day?

Took the full suss to work today, loads more grip on the bike paths which are just ice/compacted snow now, but felt so sluggish. Got to work and realised somehow 2 spokes had snapped. Hadn't realised with headphones in, that's my lunctime gone sorting the wheel

Looking at getting a new bike, been wanting something with a cro-mo frame for years and came across these:

Been out of the loop for years now and things have come a long way. Does it look like a decent buy?

Forgot to say, will be used for commuting during the week and long rides every so often at the weekend. Will probably have a set of road tyres on it most the time.

My mate who lives in a pretty rough area of Northampton has had all 5 bikes stolen today, in broad daylight. Not the firts time he has had bikes stolen but today they randomly left a knife in the living room

Amongst those stolen was a very nice Santa Cruz Blue 4x, Ironhorse Sunday and Whyte XC hardtail

He nor his misses have bikes anymore.

Just mtf up.

Mine took a good few weeks. Doing about 3, 10 mile rides a week. Also depends on the seat.

Gooch will get used to it after a period of time but you can still get sores.

Whack some chamois creme on there before your rides.
