Reports of the black wearing off around the bezel on the black model already and revealing a silver finish.

A 4S with better hardware and software then a 5?

nah, no 4G, so not better.

Why are you jabbing on about 4G? its pointless until they do the rollout.

Because it's future proof. The current S3 isn't. Totally pointless to buy a phone without it, imho, imo.
the 5 isnt futureproof either as you are restricted to EE if you buy it now

screen protectors seem like a waste of time to me, they make it less responsive in my experience and usually look rubbish when they start lifting or get bubbles in.
never used on on any of my iphones and the 3gs got the odd tiny scratch you could see in certain lights but my 4 hasnt got a mark on it

Just bought one of these, comes with a screen protector. Had one on the 4 for 2 years, same case and screen protector, no bubbles, scratched to bits now but done me proud and kept the phone like new.

Screen protectors are always terrible. My latest one lasted a couple of hours before I took it off.

Leaving the plastic on until you get one is mega gay

I've still got the plastic on mine although I chopped the bottom off so I can actually press the home button.

Never had a problem with screen protectors.

If you actually fit a screen protector properly then they work properly, my 3GS one lasted 2 years and the one on my 4s has lasted since last October and you wouldn't even tell there's one on there I can only hazard a guess that you people can't be fitting them right

well quite happy with mine, battery didn't do too badly for intensive usage considering it's not really been run in either.

Same, took me about 4-5 protectors to get it perfect with no bubbles, dust, bits underneath, but I bought loads from china for about 2p each. Literally can't even tell its on when you do it right.

Nothing to do with how it's applied. A cheap bit of plastic isn't the same as a fancy glass screen no matter how perfect it's applied.

You can't tell the difference if you get it right, my phone has one my iPad doesn't and there is 100% no difference in feel or response time, you just are not doing it right.

No, you cant tell the difference. That in no way means there is no difference. If you are happy with a substandard feel that's fine. It pisses me of though.

iPhone 5 without a protector feels no different to the 4 with one tbh. I guess everyone's different though, I feel better knowing its on there, had a deep scratch in one I took off a while back, whatever it was would definitely have left something on the screen.

Scratching plastic does not mean it would have scratched gorilla glass. As you said though, personal preference.

There is a slight difference in feel but id rather that than have a £750 phone with a scratched to fuck screen
Usually takes me a few attempts to get it with no bubbles and dust. Iv just took the protectors off my 4 and its like brand new

There is no sub standard feel, IMO and that's what counts here is there is no difference and my screen and the back of my 4s is protected and people don't even notice I have protectors on mine as I do it right.
