That was a cracking race. Well deserved win for Hamilton, nice to have Alonso right in there too taking it down to the final race

Should be good if the expected rain comes.

It looked close but I bet during that race you could count over 10 overtakes of similar closeness.
It was made closer by Vettel moving twice, first out toward the left then back out to the right

There were a closer ones in the corners but that one took place at 300KPH, they stopped it at its closest point and did a virtual overhead view and I'd estimate the gap between front wing and tyre at <10cm

Maldonado passing Senna in the corner was closest

Great race, like the look of the circuit, be different next year more grip on tarmac and softer tyres.

Really decent race yesterday, cant believe how many overtakes happened, REALLY good track imo. At the begiining when there was 10 or so cars weaving like a snake overtaking eachother was great entertainment.

Really pleased for Hamilton to get that win as a good send off from McLaren, he seemed well chuffed and deserved it. He must think some days that he has made the wrong decision with mercedes but im sure in a year or two things will work out for him.

Random question, was a GP cancelled this season??? Can't remember if one was or not, was it New Jersey?

Also, still can't help but wonder if Lewis has made a rash decision in joining Mercedes feel gutted his affiliation with McLaren is over, after everything they've done for him, and all the years he's been with the team, seems a real shame.

Nope, New Jersey was meant for next year but there's talk of it not going ahead now due to storm damage that will take ages to fix, but others say it's only cosmetic damage so to speak and as such is easy to fix.

It's going to be another Singapore tho, long straight, tight junction, long straight. Only a safety car will spice things up!

They announced the postponement of New Jersey ages before the storm came. It might be replaced with France as a one off for next year, but it's not confirmed yet.

Kobayashi out

BREAKING NEWS
This just in. I've got bad news for Kamui Kobayashi fans, I'm afraid. In perhaps the worst kept secret in F1, the Japanese driver has been given the boot from Sauber with Esteban Gutierrez getting promoted from his reserve driver role to a race seat alongside Nico Hulkenberg for next season.

Luckily Kovalainen has been saved but Petrov is out and Pic is replacing him.

Isnt it because they seem to have to have a Mexican driver due to being sponsored by Telmex?

I was thinking this but really cant see it happening. Even if Vettel fucks up or breaks down i still cant see Alonso finishing high enough. Would be nice if Lewis can win it and move upto 3rd place (iirc he isnt too far behind, but maybe wrong).

Weather will have a big part to play. Could be a pretty random race.

Lewis is looking quick in FP2.
