Why does clarkson slate the polo handling and say that the 106gti/vts are one of the best handling car's in the world ....

They are quicker on so many terms comapred with the polo and they will totally out handle them... its not just about 0-60 its about carrying speed out of corners, brakes etc...

106 gti is more of a car you can go out have a drive and it will put a smile on your face constantly... polo Gti IMO is just another average hot hatch..

But unless you feel the need to hack into a roundabout and think (yeah the 1960 suspension set up really hold the road in the 106) Whilst you lap it a second quicker than a polo that there is no doubt the polo is a better car

again it all depends what you want the car for, if you wanted the faster better handling car no the polo isnt a better car, if your looking at the overall package then yes the polo is a better car

Well i have a polo gti and as an allround car its awesome.
It has G60 brakes and eibach springs and it handles brilliantly and stops very nicely. Allround drive is good! Performance isnt mind blowing but is enough to put a smile on your face.

Also it has the bonus of xenons, climate control and ofcourse top notch build quality.

I still love to look of my little polo gti, never get borred of its styling and the interior isnt too bad at all!

id say from what you have put says it all. as i said elsewhere, 106 is more fun, polo is much much nicer car all round though

if you are to be looking at it as a car, the polo wins everywhere

trust me you will notice quite a lot of difference in performance between the 106 and the polo, iv owned 2 of one and driven the other, 1.5 seconds - 60 feels like a lot longer, and the polo feels clumsy, its not all about 0-60, the 106 just generally "drives" faster

it revs like fuck, the polo feels like its making lazy power
