whats your point of being in this thread wrighty, haveing never had a c20let corsa, or probably eveer been in one? so your comments are worthless, and nothing more than brand snobbery. impreza this, impreza that.

do they not make forums for impreza owners? join one, post up saying how shit vauxhalls are on there.

New 3.0 V6 Lotus Europa
Caterham CSR200

Astra VXR with 237bhp and 1400kg, is only 172bhp per tonne.

A Celica with 2.0 VVTi (189bhp) engine has about 153bhp per tonne.

This is just the THEORY behined it, the calculations.

Plus 4wd transmission losses at speed.

An XE Corsa can keep with an arse end turbo range impreza. I know personnally...

A standard LET corsa doesn't have much trouble.

But most scoobies have at least an exhaust, filter n such, so would make it much closer in standard guise.

A phase 2, 250-280bhp LET corsa would stomp a 280bhp Scoobie though. As I say, simple transmission losses.

2 short driveshafts, 2 wheels to power.

or

2 straight driveshafts, 2 wheels, then a central driveshaft to back of car, into heavey diff housing, then 2 more driveshafts, and 2 more wheels to power.

A lot of power is lost on 4wd at speed. From the line, no chance. Give one a go at 90 in an XE, u'll be suprised, as will the subaru owner. Until very top end performance.

One slightly tuned, would loose an XE corsa though.

i'll race a standard Corsa C20LET (202bhp?) in my Impreza. That will be funny

Round a track too.

To backup comments from both sides

Knockhill.... Skyline vs Corsa Turbo.

I was behind a Corsa on a straight... very little in it. Got held up in the corners... next straight he let me past.... again nothing in it on the straights but as soon as we got to the corners he was gone.

Spoke to to him afterwards and all he could say was
'i let you passed expeting to have a little play, but fuck me that thing handles'

A corsa can be fast.... but it is limited by its design.

Comparing a 300bhp corsa with a 250-300bhp impreza is a no brainer to. Of course the corsa will be faster (in a straight line). But turn the boost up in the Impreza and try again. Its always modded corsas against standard Evo/Impreza/M3's etc
