Should have went black belt on his ass Carl. Lucky you weren't lowered 60mm. Heard it's 1.5 for under 40mm, 3 for above.

Trailing arm on the back suspension is fucked so it sits lower on the opposite side, didn't wash though. They should show a bit more compassion imo.

Out in Sheffield, apparently they are piloting the scheme there before it goes out nationally.

This just seems wierd tbh.
I've tried to source some info on this but nothing comes up in a search on the VOSA website and surely before anything gets put into practice it would have to be publicised first?
A search through the press releases also comes up with nothing at a glance.
If anyone can find anything it would be appreciated because although i'd like to be ignorant, i simply can't afford to be.

The only bit I've found, saying you now need proof of the engine change.

Thanks Rich.
But its the suspension thing that bothers me most, not going to be investing in an engine change in the forseeable future.
But with whats been said about the suspension and mines lowered 60mm all round, i would lose my licence, being on my probation period until January.
This is going to make so many cars illegal it will be unbelievable.

i dont have proof either however it does say proof from insurance so why dont you ring up the insurance company and ask for a engineers report or if they have a recomended place who you can take it too for one.... etc etc thats the only way i can see for people who dont have a reciept......

i dont see the problem they just need to see small amount of proof that the engine is of 1998cc capacity and so on.....

there must be a way around it......

It is unbelievable. There is no logic in going round measuring cars to check how low it is. Its just not going to happen. The effect of the car econmy would be surreal. So many ways around it.

if you dont have an engineers report or garage recipt for the suspension fitted you will be liable for 6 points. its not exactly hard to ask a garage to check over your work and give you a written report on headed paper really even if it costs you x amount. its better to be safe and convered.

why is there no logic? some of these cars are dangerously low that springs can fall out, main parts of bodywork and suspension components or bottom arms can get smacked on the ground. its for the safety of other road users. it makes perfect sense and about time aswell.

Well basically as long as your car is checked over and safe then you have nothing to worry about, goes for all parts.

but it can be deemed to be too low for road use. which will result in refusal of an mot. if you then raise it, get it mot'd and take it home, lower it to the floor and drive about, this will get you 6 points.

Who decides its too low? Mines is low but theres nothing that i would say is unsafe about it.
