got a 163 bhp corsa redtop and tbh theyre not exactly slow
on a private road ofcourse
had the lead on :
civic ep3 type R
clio 197
civic b16 vti-s
106 gti's
corsa vxr
astra VXR
not exactly saying these are unreal fast cars but there not slow depends what you call fast a zonda is fast but doesnt make a XE slow liek a 1 liter saxo?
TBH rather have my old red n reg corsa
than sit and toss off to a ep3 or a mk4 golf gti T
**awaits flak lol**

xe's are not that fast but they match pretty much all the hot hatches of today over a 1/4 mile or around 15 secs from the factory so there not bad just people overate them bit like they do type r's
type r's are a good car but to me its clever marketing and they was one of the first small hatches to have around 200 bhp from the factory now its just run of the mill........ but because they was one of the first lads went ape shit over them vtec baby it takes you to the moon

yes they are nic but they are also alot newer and the engine technology is around what 12-13 years newer plus the added bonus of nothing being weathered if you like or corroding away so the type r should be alot better
so when you put it this way an xe corsa aint bad in stock form really

but thats it exactly. its newer cars, more modern technology and still an old banger of an engine in a crappy corsa is a great laugh against them. but, newer more modern chassis are far better design. so although a corsa maybe quicker in a straight line, its the rest of the stuff civic type-r's are better at from factory. as you say, newer more modern technology.

well no daz. as its an engine from 1986-87
infact a lot of the engines people use for conversions will be older than they are.
