If you got 17s you wouldn't need to worry about this as much

17s are too big for the car tbh i think they look silly with them, like a roller skate

I agree, if the measurement from opposite edge to outside of caliper is 340 on a 300 disc surely this is 380 diameter set up? However if he says it fits it's his problem if it doesn't, sounds like he's not explaining the measurements clearly, 40mm seems quite a lot of projection of the edge of the disc.

il say again when i ring up to order them, its just so difficult explaining over the phone, best i came out with was
"surely the caliper distance needs adding on the other side aswell" which sounds rubbish

Tbh it's easier to explain as a radius like AK said, a better measurement would be from the centre of the disc to the extreme edge of the caliper. Double this and that's the diameter of wheel you need to clear, not taking into account any possible spoke interference which can usually be overcome with spacers.

only thing i can think is that the caliper doesnt protrude by 40mm and that it only does by 20mm and they are factoring in that hence the 40mm total
40mm does sound like an awful long way for a caliper to protrude away from the edge of a disc

it could well be plausible you know more about these brake setups then me
the guy was adamant a 350mm wheel would clear them though
do rally design know what they are talking about? i know nothing about them, i would have thought so as they are the main UK dealer of brakes

17" using 330mmx32mm discs
Its not the diameter thats the issue.
You'll get 300mm setups on a lot of 15" wheels (TD ProRace etc)

hmm, we have 6 pots on the rear of the GTR now i think.... 330mm
Its scary looking at all brake setups we've had/tried.
Douby 6pots would be 'taller' than 4's as the pistons will have a smaller diameter

finally found some definitive info

radius for a 300mm disc is 172mm = a 344 wheel needed
looks like AK was right
