Have you's ever seen an evo turn in too quick? major understeer then it slows right down with the electronics slamming the neccesary brakes on to straighten it........don't know why there aren't any e46 M3's maybe as the driver gets faster and has to "upgrade" their group the M3 won't be competitive against 600bhp turbo'd stuff. I do know of an e36 M3 that competes as I sold him my own design of aerodynamic undertray.

Can we all agree that as an all round package for the price it has no equal?

Big price difference though?

im thinking an E46 M3 might suit my more mature years. the two car thing also pisses me off as well, just renewed tax on Passat and got scooby coming up as well.

Are people seriously using how a car handles in snow as a comparison point? Incredible.

considering the thread is about speed then i think comparing a similar BMW which is less then .5 of a second is quite a good comparison?

Fuckity fuck

This thread is silly when an Evo comes in.

I've owned both of them. I've driven both of them quite hard too.

- M3 is fast. 0-60 in 5.5, 170+ delimited. Very comfortable and is capable. There is plenty of traction but, there is always the element of the back wheels wanting to slide out. Not that difficult to catch and bring back into line.

- Evo is nuts. Pure acceleration, monster handling, feels very safe. You can throw it into a corner and it'll swallow it up. Also feels very comfortable but, not as much quality materials used. 0-60 under 4, 160+.

If you're going on about how fast around the track, for a pure amateur, I can imagine the Evo to wins hands down. It genuinely makes you feel invincible. I think the M3 would be a bit too scary on the limits.

As for the R32, XE's, TT's, Leon comments... M3 would sail past. Unless caught in the wrong gear and was playing catch up. Closest hot hatch was new shape Audi S3 to the M3.

As I said pub figures and motorway overtaking is what deems a car better on here.

Comparing a low revving turbocharged diesel rep mobile to an ///M car is daft. They are for different purposes and driving experiences/styles. If you can't understand past 0-60 times then I pity you tbh.

What a car can do on paper and what someone can do with it out on the road are 2 very different things and I for one have had a bit of sport with my mates old M3 on numerous occasions and there not that impressive. Against my old evo he didnt stand a chance in any situation, standing start, rolling start, twisty stuff etc. Top speed wise his was limited but mine got there a hell of a lot quicker than his did.

Now for the R32 which is causing a bit of a hassle. I never said it was quicker than an M3 but what I will say is that it doesnt race away from them as fast as your all making out.

I hope this has made it all a bit easier for you all to understand.

Pretty much any car that's 3.0l upwards will be decent enough when playing with an M3. 350z, other BM's etc.

I'm unable to take this thread seriously because people keep using those silly slashes before the name of the car.
