Do landrovers have a diff lock? Surely must do.

Only a centre diff lock. Need air lockers for every wheel to be locked.

Not really, can have auto lockers and even electric lockers.

Vitaras and jimnys (don't know about the newer jimnys) are very capable offroad even more so than a defender IMO, I have been passanger in a few jimnys offroad and they are a lot more comfortable than any other 4x4 I have been in offroad including, fronteras, discoverys, defenders, pajeros, vitaras, cherokees and more.

Indeed, I really want a 2.8td SWB pajero, they are built like tanks for all terrain eg massively overrated cooling for desert shit, 2 batteries for artic shit, high electrics for wattery shit.

Lets not go through this again

They are just as good as a pajero/shogun.

4x4s are never too bad for me to insure.

Are Shoguns not expensive for parts? And horrendous on fuel.

What are Shogun Pinins like? Proper 4 wheel drive?

The main way out of High Wycombe is a stupidly steep 1 mile hill, not looking forward to that in the 182.

Ive been told last year people were just using other cars as brakes. Bouncing off them down the hills.
And the polish were out charging people to get them out of the snow in there 4x4's

Where abouts in High Wycombe do you live?

I was hoping to of sold my car and bought a 4wd sports hatch/saloon, but it hasn't happened. My car is useless in the snow on summer tyres.
I really should invest in a winter set.

I live just on the edge of Cressex, didnt realize you were from round Wycombe!

So i guess it is as bad as people say, going up desborough must be a nightmare!

I'm in High Wycombe aswell, Totteridge . If its as bad as they say, Totteridge hill and Hatterslane hill are gonna be a nightmare..

Yeah i forgot about Totteridge! The girlfriend has to go up there to work! I think ill take her off the car insurance when it snows

All 4x4s are horrendous on fuel and parts for them can be expensive but they are a lot more reliable than a landy (but parts are cheap for landys)
yea they are proper 4wd, don't know if the get rear locking diffs like the full size shoguns though.

Are there any 4x4's available around the 700quid mark?

Ive got a banger for work but a 30min drive along twisty roads doesnt appeal to me in 2ft snow. Hardly any of the roads near me got cleared last snow, would 4x4 help? Never driven one.

Or should i just stick with what ive got :/
