Same, never given any actors death more than a seconds thought but he seemed like a genuine sound guy and the more you read about him seems to back that up.

The postmortem should show they died from the trauma of the impact. Atleast I hope it does.
Keep wondering if it hadn't set on fire could they have been saved. I've heard of people surviving worse. Fire kinda fucked up that theory

It wont take that much of a knock sideways in to a tree to kill you if your head hits the tree/interior of the car, presuming they were travelling at some speed it could have quite easily snapped their necks on impact. Again I'm assuming this judging by the damage but 100+mph to 0 almost instantly will have monumental force, especially sideways
