Where are you planning?
Don't mind taking you / doug / whoever else to the Marin trail, if you've got no planned route.

New PB longest ride of 72.6 miles yesterday! Picked the right day to book as holiday ... Weather was amazing. Paced the ride much better this time and probably had another 10-20 miles in me at the end .... Didn't want to push my knees too much though. Pretty lucky living in Oxford - the country roads around here are epic with a bit of sun on them

10 mile ride about 18mph,For under 30 miles I hit about 16... Yesterday was 14.8mph
I'm looking to do shorter runs as quick as possible in the week to get used to going quicker ... On a specialised sirrus sport hybrid so never going to be as quick as full carbon road bike.

I wasnt getting 13mph last year ... my average speed has gone up quickly and rapidly - pretty much as soon as I started doing longer runs. Couple of month ago longest rides I had done were 25miles, at about 12mph and that was killing me for days after. My aim by the end of the summer is to get my pannier s, fit them and do 100miles fully loaded

That's the great disadvantage of where I live. No good Tarmac and everything is just hill after hill in any direction.

Spent day sorting bikes out today, bleeding brakes on my 2 bikes and sorting the V brakes on the wifes bike. Also replaced the bottom bracket on my ransom which was rough as fuck and had a bit of play, surprised how easy it was to do. You don' t realise how rough things are until you get some brand new bearings on the go, hopefully go for a play tomorrow!

my legs don't hurt the day after infact normally they are fine about 30mins after a ride (even my longest 50mile one they were fine pretty soon after) but its just when im out they die way too quick, suppose I really need to eat better food before I go out and probably doesn't help I train them twice a week + run the day before my rides normally.
Just got in from a 13mile ride (originally planned 70 today but far too tired .
spent all day cleaning/breaking/"fixing" my bike, got my pb on a hill around here (now 6th out of 11) and that was with my front brake sticking on managed to fix it when I got to the top.
really need to take it to get checked out though as the chain catches on the metal guide thingy on the crank the highest + lowest gears.

Well today was a fantastic morning so got out for an XC ride.
There is a descent through the RSPB head office reserve. Was tracking the ride with Sports Tracker but I thought I'd go for KOM or what ever it is.
Went absolutely flat out - was more puffed out at the bottom than climbing the bloody thing. My Sports Tracker app says I hit about 30mph, just as fast as a road decent on the ride so I was going some.
But I've uploaded to Strava and it still says I'm 9th or 10th, only doing 24 miles per hour and apparently doing it quicker on 20th March.

Deano looks like 2 different segments as you got a 10th place for tge 0.1mile seg the other is 0.2 miles at 36 secs and takes a slightly different route

Did a place called drumlanrig castle past Dumfries today. Only a peasants 11 miles long but was quite difficult in sections due to lots of roots and varying surfaces. Really enjoyed the day out and will definitely do there again. No big jumps, no real long descent just good honest cross country and not really many man made parts, just natural terrain.

Glad you and your guys enjoyed it. It's a great place now and so much fun.
My legs kill now but that's due to not riding for 4 weeks.

I've heard bad reports of Swinley/Bracknell due to these new trails and routes. We always used to go and ride where ever when ever and explore a bit, linking together single track and fun bits.
All that's gone now to create a "trail centre".

Have you been since it reopened a month ago.
It's better now than it was. Old single track has been used with new stuff which has proper berms and jumps added in. Also one way now so risk of head ons. Better use of the contours as well mean nice flowing sections with small climbs. And with everything linking up nicely makes for a better ride rather than working out where you were to where you wanted to go and how to get there.
