well just been to the fix it lesson thing at evans chillfactor, got to say was quite impressed tbh, for the price its worth it just for the free gifts  got a multi tool, lube, puncture repair kit, 1lt of dirtwash bike cleaner.
in terms of what he went through, removal of wheel (rear one always worried me), remove/replace/repair innertube, how to clean/lube chain & check to make sure its not too loose, how to adjust brakes + how to adjust gears (probably the most beneficial part for me as now I know what to do on my bike to stop the chain catching the guard).
in terms of learning this I know I could of done it by watching online videos etc but I don't know just trust watching someone in real life doing it .

My mate folllowing with his GoPro Hero 3 at Chicksands Bike Park. Not quite the right angle but because he goes around the jumps he gets me going over. Rad times

Yeah, Chicksands all the runs are about 30 seconds - walk up is easy though! Not hilly in Bedfordshire!

Decided im going to get another bike on cycle to work scheme. I really like my Specialized hybrid but I am struggling on longer rides with not having different hand positions and with not being able to get on the drops out of the wind. My arms are getting really sore and elbows are locking as they are too straight on the hybrid......I also struggle to climb out of my saddle, its just not a nice position on a hybrid to stand up.
What I do love about my bike is firstly it has been extremely reliable and has stayed in perfect condition - I definitely want another specialized for that reason(also my bike shop stock them and parts and do repairs) I also like the mpore relaxed position on a hybrid - im not going to race - I am only really interested in touring and general riding, maybe the odd Audax. I have also been very impressed by the carbon forks, verts thingies - defitely makes for a nicer ride.
So my requirements are - relaxed positon, room/mountings for rear rack, panniers and mudguards - idealy a triple with a granny gear - dont really want to spend over a grand as I still have to buy panniers, racks and a garmin sat nav before my lejog next april.
So far I have narrowed the choice down to a specialized secteur sport triple .... any other bike makes do a similar bike to this - more set up for touring or audax? I have looked at steel things like dawes ect but I think they are just overkill for my requirements.

I had a secteur, it was the entry model. I got it for the same reasons you mentioned as I had no plans to race on a road bike 'twas just to get to work etc, sold it now though to get a 29er.

Giant Defy is a comparable bike, geometry wise. I would of suggested Canyon, but I don't think you can get them on C2W

Dr P, what is your shop? In Oxford? My mate at Walton Street Cycles in Jericho has an Orange Carb-o demo bike in I believe

I normally use beeline on the cowley road or go outdoors in abingdon - thats looks a nice bike! I am guessing pannier mounts might be an issue though

Im prebooking a few b&bs for the start - then just winging it - but wont be camping
However - I fancy some europeon touring too, and that would be camping ...so I really want the ability to have at least rear panniers on

One of the things I liked about when I did it was having b&b and travelodges booked. You knew you had to get to that point regardless.
I kind of think if you are camping theres that temptation to pack it in early and make the miles up the next day.... which I can see being a slippery slope.

Beeline have just moved further down the road, need to pop in and see the new shop. Although I guess you will now be in their road bike shop anyway!
