It was taken out of context, as usual. He went on to say he's delighted with the signing and would have snapped him up even if Giroud hadn't been injured.

He's not scored but he's beginning to look sharper again. He was out for most of a year with one of the most serious injuries for footballers. That in itself is a gamble, but if he gets the chances, I have little doubt he will score.
