Had my first proper go tonight at the chords, my books haven't come yet but my new phone has an application that shows you the chords on it & plays you an example sound
I've at least got it sounding OK playing one chord at a time, which is a good thing as I don't want to learn it the wrong way!
The books should be here tomorrow

Been and bought a tuner today as well, Korg CA-40 (new model according to them)
Also bought some picks, they had 3 variants of thickness so I just bought one of each
I'll take a pic of it later
Later being nearly a month

Getting to grips with it a bit better now, main problem is I've been traveling about with work so I haven't had time to practise much

If you play consistently you will develop callouses within a period of a week or so maybe less.
If you're really starting to absorb yourself in guitar playing then you can always dip your fingers in surgical spirits for ten min a day like Eric Clapton, although another slightly less brutal way would be stretch your fingers and wrists before you pick the guitar up!

Fuck off
Its not that I need actual hand strength to push the strings down, its the fact that the hard strigs dig into the soft skin & it hurts
There fine now, going to do some more tomorrow

I got the AJ100 & it seems great
Its a decent make & looks quite cool in Ebony. Sounds good too, compared to a cheapo one my mate has got

Mine was £150
It's MUCH nicer to play than the Epiphone though. (Tried both in the shop)

Sounds better, the neck is a nicer shape, so it makes it easier to play.
I liked the Epiphone, but I liked this one more

New job = Vodafone (lol) working on the PAYT side dealing with cost to connect basically (so working with the likes of P4u, CPW etc. on their bonuses) and working through a degree as part of my studies... just a mini dissertation!
