Cossie is an icon for a reason, it was so much different from the donor car, it was properly developed. Pretty much nothing since then has been anything more than the base model with a pokey engine, a bodykit and some lowering springs!

Would love to know what you found dull about the RS6 when you last drove one...........numb steering, slightly iffy gearbox?

I used to navigate in an ex WRC escos.

Here is a vid testing the newly rebuilt gearbox and putting 500bhp through it

btw it is a quaife 6 speed dog box and just had a £5k rebuild.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

If I see an Evo going down the road I might look round depends how good it looks at first glance. Scooby goes down the road I won't even look as they bore me.

Escos goes down the road I'll look for as long as I can, they have so much road presence and they're just cool as fuck, I'd love one

Put too much power though ANY chassis and the handling will suffer.

How can you say that, no-one has tuned the RS yet, or twiddled with the suspension. The Cossie is jsut the run of the mill Mcphearson stuts, used many a time.

The RS is a new technology, un-tested the the "tuning" world, so such statements cannot yet be made.

Jamsport have got one, and tuned it

Tuning a Focus RS doesn't result in hedge to car interface, even with nigh on 400bhp.

As for it being new technology, Renault have been using the same setup for a good few years now, it's well tested...

I've driven standard Escorts and found them dull. I'm not saying they're a bad car, just not amazing as standard.

I'd love one all the same, it'd have to be Aubergine, it's THE colour.

The fact is, the Escort (or 4x4 Sapphire) will ultimately be more capable of handling big power, but only if you uprate everything, why do you think Paul Ripley has a Bara gearbox? and Martin Hadland uses an OS Giken Skyline one, and Rod Tarry a Tremec T56?

Things break, they're not particularly reliable if you get a bad one, and someone will attempt to nick it at some point, but it's still one of those cars that has the wow factor with a lot of people.

Its just DULL! Like all VAG cars... Far to clinical, its like comparing Arnie to Bruce Willis.. Cars like the RS6 is Arnie in terminator.. Awesome machine but no soul and cars like the Cossie are Bruce Willis in die hard.. Barrels of fun, get the job done but cost you a fortune in bills

I'm not saying its not a fast car with amazing handling, drives great but the whole experience is DULL, there are some cars that just put a grin on your face every time you drive them, the RS6 is just a blisteringly fast doctors surgery.

A mate of mine has just bought the S4 V8 Quatro, nice looking, quick car but DULL.. When you compare it with another quick saloon.. Even the BMW's have more soul.

The definition of Audi making an exciting saloon or hatch is painting it a bright colour.

What your trying to Davey is that you have never driven an RS6, you have never driven a Lotus Carlton, you have never driven an M power BMW and have never driven an Escort Cosworth. You are basing your whole argument on what you have read in magazines, what people have told you and what you have read on internet forums!

And a 530bhp RS6 is a million miles away from an S6 V8 with 340bhp! I know for a FACT that my dull RS6 would scare the absolute shit out of you!

OK, but has he driven an RS6 to compare it to?

I have driven two Lotus Carltons but have never owned one, never lived with one and as they werent mine; never really kicked its head in enough to know how good the car actually was. I would therefore not try to give a comparison to my RS6...........

My old TVR was exciting........I think? On the other hand it could be that it was just downright dangerous? Is there a difference? Is the difference between an exciting car and a dull car just the fact that they have been developed properly and have the handling and set up to control the power properly?

Yes I've driven an RS6.. The problem is it is over engineered to the point the driver just becomes a flap of skin attached to the steering wheel only there to hit the brake pedal when you get to close to the car in front.. DULL DULL DULL.. If I didnt want to drive I'd take the BUS!

now your just playing up for the sake of it, as if you'd take the bus over an RS6.

I'd drive any car if it meant I didn't have to set foot on a bus.
