its because you dont publish it, they are not for your farm and will never apear on your farm, they are for your friends to adopt.

if your friends find a lost animal on there farm and publish it then you can click on that and rehome the animal they found.

I think Grapes are better than Tomatoes IMO, 8 hours is almost 1 day anyway, plus twice the XP for grapes, and double the coinage.
