Bullshit did your mates have a permit and COSHH sheet for " setting an employer on fire while on the toilet"
Id claim / contact HSE and inform your employer of your actions and then sit back and watch the fireworks
the C stands for Control tbh , thought i'd just be an arsehole and point that out

Not really unless the planned outcome was to kill him, which I dont think it was.
If he had died it would of been manslaughter rather than murder - but I dont think you can have attempted manslaughter as would just be gbh, abh or something like that.
section 18 assault is next one from attempted murder....wounding with intent

mate thats shocking, sad times.
presumably you would sue the company for failign in their duty of care for you in the workplace. woudl the insurance company not then seek damages from the individuals to compensate themselves?

Jeeez just read through the full thread, harsh stuff!
I don't blame you for being half hearted in whether to claim or not - mates pull pranks all the time, we've all done it and they can often easily go wrong - obviously you've got some thick fucking mates to have it go THIS far wrong, but still - they're mates...
To cheer you up though.....

It was their intention to set the floor alight however. And then whatever comes with that is their fault.

Im not sure what they thought would happen, as human skin + fire never normally ends in fun and frolics.

Ive got a great prank set up, going to set a fire in a children's nursery thats in this old wooden barn. The laughing looks on their faces when they are engulfed in fire is going to be amazing.
Im sure we'll all have a great laugh about it after too.

my point is for example stabbing someone is intentional. for fuck sakes im not justifying their actions. With intent seems like a strong term in this case..

We're going off on a completely different tangent regarding that. Im sure they didnt intentionally want to give the bloke second degree burns - and he knows that.

But they did, and it wasnt via an accident (such as they spilt the stuff and some how accidentally set it on fire), they deliberately poured it under the door and set it on fire.
