these are 356mm x 32mm discs with 1st generation KSport 8 pots (now have gen2).

Wheels are 17" x 9" et17 for ref (white wheels are a higher offset)

300mm is fine for the Puma

Can't see an advantage in you running 6 pots over the 4's tbh.

Not without changing your master cylinder, you may even end up loosing coverage over the brake pad with 6 smaller pistons (3per side) instead of 4 larger pistons (2per side).

you shouldn’t loose any pad coverage, but i do hope you’ve worked out your piston areas and they aren’t massively larger than the originals or you will end up with a long pedal on the stock master cylinder

the 4 pots i've stripped/rebuilt before had aprox pistons of 20mm radius.

So total surface (piston pushing on pad) area = 5026mm2

That Willwood looks to have 1 large and 2 small which possibly makes better use of the available space (think about cutting circles in card and the most efficient/least wastefull way to do it)

Say 1 40mm piston, and roughly 2 x 30 pistons. If that is the case its got aprox 5313mm2

So more surface area pushing on the pad

yeah so with a stock mastercylinder bore you will get a longer pedal, probably best to work it out with the exact sizes of old and new callipers though

they have bleed nipples top and bottom so how are they sided?

they have only bleed nipples on the top.

i'll rephrase that a bit....

Air is lighter than brake fuild so will go to the top of the caliper.

You cant bleed a caliper properly from the bottom.

EDIT: Going by the pic you could alter a caliper to fit the other side but you should not have to do this on a L/R complete kit. If you damage a thread its your fault

(move the bleed nipples to replace the link)

you cant swap it round because it has the different piston sizes though

having to send one back next week. fitted one side though

loads of room need to cable tie the brake hose back





obs cant test yet

re: pedal test etc, i will try and see, i 'think' the focus 170 uses the same master cyliner stock, had the 170 stock setup on there anyway and that was ok so im assuming if its ok as a direct replacement for that it should be fine

couple of questions, iv had to use 2 or 3 washers in between the caliper bracket and the hub carrier as the caliper wasnt quite centered over the disc, is that ok like that? or is it wise i seek one 5mm thick shim to use instead of several washers?


secondly as you can see in pic 1 the pads dont cover all the disc, theres about 10mm or so of disc uncovered, all the pad is on the disc theres non sticking out the top so im assuming that gap is there for discs that have bell houses??

don’t use washers unless they are machined flat, but tbh even then you’d be better off with a proper spacer, and yes the pad contact is fine, would be different with alloy belled discs, as long as all of the pad is in contact with the disc its fine
i don’t get the m/s comment though, why not just measure or find out what you have and see what the difference is?
