Inspection 2 is valve clearances, that is a big job. But you have to make sure they do it

just been looking through my service book and i think i've made a mistake.
the last service was an oil service, with an insp 2 done previous to that. would this mean it's due an insp 1 this time?
not used to all these different things going on at service intervals

You are right there mate I was wrong it's only the ///M engines that needs them isn't it? The rest are self adjusting? Inspection 2 shouldn't be that much on yours Ben

The bill for the last inspection 2 was £424 which is just a bit more than the £99 i'm used to from ford
Inspection 1 seems to come in around £250 which is a bit better.

a car of your age doesn't need a dealer stamp IMO
Really a car of any age doesn't need a dealer stamp anymore but most have service packs now anyway
I would get an Indy to do it unless BMW quote cheap
I know halliwell jones were doing them for around 160 the other month

And yeah, valve clearances seem to be only on ///M's, happy about that as they cost 800-1000 for inspections

Cheers, will have to have a ring around then. the car has full bmw service history so woupd be nice to continue that, but if the indy is a lot cheaper, I would go with them.

About £750 for Insp 2 on ///M cars.
Definetly go Independant, mine had mostly independent service history and most do nowadays

Use an independant there are loads in Essex. Get better service and less than half the price of a dealer.

got some cheap no error led's on ebay so decided to fit them. bought 8 but need another 2 for footwell lights. cheap enough at £1 each though.
plate lights, i didn't want them to light the floor up but this seems to be common among newer cars with led plate bulbs:
inside:
rear centre storage:
haven't got any of my sidelights, will update tomorrow night as i feel a bit of a prat taking pictures outside in the dark

ok.. so my coolant light decided to come on again (2nd time in 3 months) and i had to put in a litre of coolant
unsure what the problem is right now but it's going in for a service next month so will get it checked out then.
i finished changing the wedge bulbs to white led's (footwell lights/sidelights/bootlight/no. plate lights/interior and map lights)
i used these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280853560226?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
no error lights on the dash using them.
i also decided to rip the carbon vinyl off the ashtray and the window switch surrounds as i found out that the wrap doesn't like sunlight going to either spray or plastidip them black now.

What is this plastidip you speak of ???

it's a spray paint/plastic that's more durable then paint.
http://www.plastidip.co.uk/eStore/index.cfm?Plastidip_Aerosol_Spray_-_311g&stage=3&colour=Black,Blue,Clear,Red,White,Yellow&pid=PDL-0009
a lot of people are starting to use it now. i may go with a gloss black finish on the interior plastics though so probably won't use that.
o/s wing mirror glass decided to make a break for freedom yesterday seems everythings going wrong. they only stick on though so it's not a big deal.

it's the coolant expansion tank mate. only seems to leak when it's warmed up. when cold, it doesn't seem to leak.

Think its under more pressure when its hot.
Its not leaking from the back is it and dripping down? Looking at the angle I guess not, but cant really tell!

unsure tbh had a quick look around but didn't bother taking the bumper off as i have work soon.
got the whole of next week off so will sort it then. it's just annoying to have to keep topping it up every other day

went to bmw parts today and luckily enough, they had an expansion tank in stock so bought it. bit expensive for a piece of plastic though.
going to fit it tomorrow if it isn't raining.
got some official bmw coolant aswell. better than tap water i think
at least this one has the float my other one didn't.
and a picture of a massive traffic jam on the m25. was stuck for about 5 miles

joe, i think the same tank is used on the majority of bmw engines. P.O.S design by the looks of it
