Always had his old man chest hair poking out of a pink shirt, guaranteed. Sad news to hear of his death.

3 year contract for Pirelli. Good news imo, got a lot of heat for something which was essentially not even their fault. If F1 wants cheese wheels and they get cheese wheels its hardly surprising. They also get 12 days testing, one of which will be done in the wet so that should give them info they need to make them safe.

Also Webber's old man appears every so often; tbf, i don't see what the issue is with fathers being in the pitlane or on the grid and getting the odd interview
On another note,

Brawn for team principle then?
IIRC, Ron's tried to get rid of Whitmarsh in the past, if that's the case then i don't think he'll be around much longer - comes across as a nice guy but not really the type you need to be managing a winning team.
Hopefully this is a turning point for McLaren and they can get back on top
Also, it looks like the yanks are trying to get back into the game - http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2014/01/16/haas-planning-a-us-f1-project/

Yes I can see Ron moving in to clear the decks ready for Brawn. Whitmarsh spent all that time gaffing round trying to get Perez a seat in another team, any other team boss would just have handed him a P45 and wished him well.

Lets just hope its not too late for this season for mclaren. No doubt wipe this year off again and go all guns with honda/dennis/brawn sounds bloody good! IIRC brawn was last in charge of a honda powered car?

From the board; still has 'day-to-day' control, so unless it goes completely south for him during the trial i can't see much changing.

Plenty of links if you type "Mclaren crash test" into twitter but nothing official so we'll have to wait and see

It's from Italian press (was reading a translated version earlier), so there's a good chance it's all balls; but usually "there's no smoke without fire" and if they have failed hopefully they can get it sorted ASAP as i imagine missing Jerez will be a bit of a pisser.
