i came back online as you saw because you invited me, but i was still setting the xbox back up with correct settings etc, by the time id done that it was too late, everyone had gone

I got in at 9 from footy training, missus was at work. Fired up the 360 and it just wouldn't connect to Live  after messing around with the laptop for about 2 hours I managed to log on eventually. Fcuk knows what happened, just hope it doesn't happen again.

my mate still can't get connected either, I've tried everything but can't seem to get his router to assign an ip address to the 360 (i've connected the 360 to his wireless laptop).
He has a Linksys router, how would I go about changing the settings on that?

probablly have to go into the router settings, find his manual. usually u just open up IE or something and you can do the http://192.168.0.1 or what ever and get into the options

TBH its better to have the router set to auto assign IP rather than give it a static address

Jamie, I would say that getting a wireless network adapter and connecting straight to the router is the best way forward. I'm currently using an ethernet cable to connect to my laptop and certain settings have to be changed etc...

basically its best to reset the console settings and start from scratch. This way it automatically sets it up and is better than you trying to set all the ports/IP's manually.

Look Ill be honest. I have no clue about wireless routers and setting etc.
We are due to be getting sky broadband in the new year, they supply a wireless router. This is about as much as I know.
