I'll be going for sure, and I'll be working day and night to get the car running for it.

Worst scenario is bring the girlfriends C1

I have never seen anyone have so many problems with a TPS in my life . Are you sure its not a problem in the loom somewhere?

I know! You're telling me

It's the loom by the plug, its been converted from a 6pin to a 3 pin plug by the previous owner, I've hooked up the 3 wires that looked like they were connected however one had come out so not sure if that should be connected or not.

Might have just solved my own problem

I hope not!

It's Running again!!!!

Turns out the tps wasn't clicking back to where it should as the throttle cable was pulling on it a little bit if it had been dropped slowly.

The earth to the TPS had come off, so got that back on, then we adjusted the throttle where it should be then it spluttered in to life!

Let it idle for a bit then revved it up and it seemed fine again so have left it so I can get out to a garage tomorrow to get the emissions adjusted or checked to make sure that it's still giving out good emissions

*****UPDATE*****

Well as many of you know billing was supposed to be today so I had been working on the car to get it ready so here's the update:

TPS was changed the other week along with the emissions getting sorted. The car was running great and I was really enjoying it.

I left it for a few day and moved the AFM to get the Strut brace in. Then when I took it out the car died on me (thursday)

I got a tow home off a friend and set about trying to sort it. It had turned out the earth for the TPS had come off and made the car think it was at mid throttle when idling.

I changed the wiring and neatened it up. It then wouldn't run. I looked everywhere and couldn't find the problem, no fault codes just wouldn't run. So I asked my step dad to take a look and he picked up on the throttle cable pulling on the throttle a tiny where I had moved the tps so we changed that so it was slack and then it coughed in to life!

Great!

So Friday I thought I was all ready to just paint some bits up and clean it.

I got the rocker cover sprayed which came out great:

Only to find out where I had fixed the TPS I had leant on it and ruined it from where the lacquer hadn't hardened enough.

Completely my fault so set about friday re-spraying that and sanding it down.

I got it on:

It was a bit of a mess but I had other problems. I had taken off the Dizzy to spray it up and sort out the plug on it.

When I took it off the main bracket holding it in and perished and literally broke off in my hands.

So I was fuming as it would have only been held in with the seal and the one bolt.

So I sorted that with a bit of chemical metal that is designed for high temps and got it sprayed up.

Finally it was time to give it a start up to check everything still worked.

It started up fine just a little over fueling.

So then I got it all rinsed off inbetween rain showers and cleaned it up for billing:

Got the bay back together:

Then went to move it foward to dry it off and it would only start with the throttle down.

Bad news. So tried to get it to idle which wouldn't happen.

I went over the TPS and it was all still in tact.

Finally the EML came on. I ran the fault codes to find that the AFM was getting low voltage and causing it to run lean (which is un like this engine )

So poked about a bit to find the wiring had warn away at each other and was shorting out.

I decided to cut that bit of the loom out and re-make it as it was all old and warn.

Got a new bit of loom made up and got it back together.

Finally had a running car!!

So fitted a sticker that should have been on a while ago:

Left it over night and came out this morning and it drove the whole 90 miles faultless!

Arrived to be greated with this:

Yup. Billing was cancelled!

So I was pretty gutted. I'd spent two days getting it ready and it didn't even go on show.

Missed my brother run with the olympic torch too as I was too busy making it run.

So got a final picture of it at the services on the way home:

All in all a bit annoyed but you can't help the weather! I'm happy it's running good again I just want to get the emissions checked again monday then I'm a happy bunny!

I hope you gave it some on way back like I did.
