lenon, rooney and downing changed game, looked certain to score for 30+ minutes, gerrard was shit again, but beautiful goal, beckham was also very poor.
Because Gerrard is outta position!
fuck off, he can pass a ball usualy, if hes "out of position" dont play him, play carrick.
and did he do in midfield? some didnt notice that it seems

dont play him? Would rather see him up there than Lampard. He is the best midfielder in the country and we should play to his skills.

england deserved the win IMO, but a couple of clear moments where it so could have gone horribly wrong for england. trinidad scoring just before half time would have been disasterous.
oh well wont have to watch the sweden game tonite now.

He is in the same dilema as Henry for France. They dont play to his skills so he always plays shite. Sven makes Gerrard defend for 90mins so he cant do what he does best...drive the team forward and create.

Im not saying dont play Lampard, as he is amazing. Im just saying dont play him further forward and play to his style when Gerrard is much better at bringing in the WHOLE team going forward than Lamps is.

a win is a win, not the best performance but rooney came through it. Gives us a great chance to make a few changes against sweden. Stick calamity james in goal, give owen, rooney and walcott time on the pitch for fitness

General summary, good defensively, especially Terry, substitutions were positive which is a good sign from Sven, although I thought Gerrard was on reigns, it looked like he didn't want to go too far forward incase he got bollocked, but once Crouch scored he let himself loose which resulted in a great 2nd goal.
Although Crouch scored, he was a waste of space in general, his goal lasted 2 seconds, the rest of the game was poor.
Criticism of Rooney's appearance? There shouldn't be, they took him to play as soon as he was declared fit, and he's now fit so if Sven didn't play him today, he should've gone home anyway.

As people are saying, Gerrard should be the attacking midlfielder and Lampard, stay behind him IMO

Lampard is more naturally attacking I think though, so if your sticking Gerrard in an attacking midfield role, bang Lampard on the bench, let him reflect on his crap performance this evening, to make him try harder against whoever they get in the last 16.

Gerrard scored 24 goals in a more forward (sometimes even holding) role...why? he is allowed to roam and the premiership has much better defenders than in the current competition...
And all his goals are so important, stunning and priceless
So why not put him in front of lampard?
Gerrad is always in for big occasions...

No they've nothing to lose, Sweden are not like Paraguay and T&T, they won't just sit back and let England push on, so the 3rd group game will be a test for Englands defense and also their counter attacking ability.

todays game was abit like the first half of the hungary. Hungary played defensive and it made it really hard for England to break down - most teams will find it hard to break down a tactic which is SOOO defensive. T&Tplayed 85 minutes within their own halfs as they would have been over the moon with a draw (come on - their strikers were playing in their own halfs). Only when England scored did T&T start to push forward.
Now i aint trying to make excuses for certain poor individual performances... but its hard to rate Englands performance when they are playing agaisnt teams who are playing for a point.
I think we'll see a better game agaisnt sweden as they will play for the win... thus making the game more open which is more suited for us.
sven (for probably the first time in his life) made a great change by bringing on rooney and especially Lennon.
For me carriager does piss me off with his defensive mind set. I think he'll be great agaisnt better teams where we need some1 to clean up and claim things down... but today he SLOWED the pace down way too much.... we really needed neville today to bomb down the line and overlap.
owen is soooo dependant on his pace and sharpness.... he's just not match fit
ermmm 6 points on the board.... pick up the performance in our last game and lets try and win this bastard tournament
* ^^^^ IMO ^^^^ *

Gerrard has proven that he is better at attacking for England than Lampard.
I'm sure that we have enough potential in the team to allow for Gerrard and Lampard to attack!
Why is it that all of a sudden we have to decide who attacks and who says forward.... need to have more trust in our defence - which is one of the best in the competition!
