its meant to be like that. Its taken at night with street lighting as its only light source. Impossible to get any kind of colour range in it

This is my first ever attempt at a HDR, i still have no idea how my camera works 100% but i've been reading about HDR and took 3 pics, one at 0EV, one at +2 and one at -2ev and used PS to put them together

Not to bad for first try?

Just wondering. Why do you need the EV-2?

Isnt everything thats in EV-2 in EV-0?

No, much more detail around the lamp in ev -2.

dark exposures compress the highlights so you get detail there, light exposures bring out details in shadows and the midranges are taken from the 0

you cant relaly do proper hdr from one exposure, especially in situations where you need it

So Steve can I edit just the EV+2 version of the photo to get the lights down? I only quickly played around with the options in PS but didn't know you can do it to the single images?

play around in photoshop with shadows/highlights

or take a less then -2 lower exposure shot, most of mine are

how much light the camera exposes to the film or sensor in terms of digital.

higher exposure more light hence brighter image, lower less light

Flash makes for awful photos, if the shutter speed is to low at the lowest F number then you need a tripod

Depends really, I think most built in flash's on DSLRs have very limited use. Much better to up ISO, adjust shutter etc to avoid using the flash. More often that not ruins a photo. I'm not sure if I have ever actually used my built in flash. If however you are using dedicated flash units then its a slightly different story
