I'd happily let the Japs in to Britain to start again, if it meant throwing out the benefit thieving immigrant fucks.

I do wonder why in such an earthquake prone country, that they have nuclear power stations?
Would any blowing up of power stations be less disastrous (to people) if they had coal/wind/<whatever> power stations only instead of nuclear?

has to be pretty extreme circumstances though to knock out a nuclear plant, in which case these plants are 30+ years old, newer ones wouldnt have had these problems

For the immense population in Japan, Coal power stations would deplete the resources very quickly

Probably a stupid question, but can you not just "turn it off" and let it cool?

IIRC they have to cool for atleast 48 hours which requires power to keep the cooling system going, Which is the problem with the cooling systems failing

It was designed to withstand a 8.2 earthquake but held well to the tremors. It was the back up generators being fucked by the tsunami, and the generators that they drove in having the wrong plugs that caused the grief!

It is very similar. The hydrogen explosion was the same sort of thing that happened in Ukraine. But the design of that power station was poor in comparison.

The Russians/Ukrainians don't work to the same level of safety regulations as the rest of the world.

On a more optimistic note, my mate who's over there says their single minded determination is awe inspiring.
They've just lost tens of thousands of people and all they are focussing on is rebuilding their country.

the difference with chernobyl was the control rods were not inserted so you still had a nuclear reaction happening when the melt down occured.
So you actually had a nuclear explosion on top of it
