how on earth does that attach to a vehicle? my issue is with mine, so ive been told anyway is that as i have a tiny tiny spoiler on the boot it will catch/be in the way of such devices.
Do you have a tow bar? There are a few models that attach to the towball.
i do yes

Tow bar rack is definitely the way forward. Thule do a nice one for about £100, wheel support rack for 2 bikes. Includes area for number plate and light board to keep things legal.
Depending which Beemer you have it might have proper fixing points for a roof rack. But for foot packs, clamps, bars and rack you'll be talking way over the price of a Thule wheel support rack.

Pick up my bike tonight after service. Had a new shimano xt cassette fitted rather than the sram before so should be better. Full strip down and check so should feel like a new bike. Going out at weekend for a nice long 20 mileish, slow paced flattish ride to get back into it.
Really looking forward to it. 8 weeks today since the breakage.

Got a new chain too? Chain and cassette normally go hand in hand...

Yeah new kmc one as well. And some new sram jockey wheels. Although they are shit, made of butter. Want some alloy ones but to get them for the x5 is a pitta so unless I upgrade I won't be getting any, just poke up with changing them every 4 months.

Have you tried actual SRAM parts?
I got some to replace the ninja'd ones on my X9 mech. Over £30 retail for some jockey wheels. Good job I have a friendly LBS.

The actual SRAM ones are shit plastic. But because the x5 and x7 has an offset mounting for the jockey wheels it uses a huge bearing in the middle with multi holes for fixing through. The alloy ones are available for the x9 upwards as they have a central mounting hole like shimano ones.
They only cost £11 for the pair so at least it's not mega bucks.
