In an ideal world (its a place were Rooney and Owen were not stuck down with injuries) the strike force would be Rooney and Owen - with Crouch on the bench which would provide us with another tactic if things were not going to plan i.e. 80th min... whack him on to change things
The think with Crouch is that he offers sumthing different.... and whilst our top men are not match fit - he is the likely one to be played. I think in Sven will play Crouch with Rooney after the group games as owen is struggling

Any england fan that slaughters peter crouch and is celebrating a win this evening should hang their heads in shame, the simple fact is if he hadn't scored the game would have ended up a draw.
He gives something different, an outball, and no matter what anyone says England need him imo.

Have your opinion of him but dont deny the fact that he won england the game and i bet you felt as relieved as anyone when he stuck that in the back of the net

I have no allegiance to any english team, you cleary have a vendetta against the guy as a lot of other non football minded people do, is it because he plays for liverpool or because he doesnt look elegant on a football park?
Like i said end of the day he won england the game if you like it or not and im glad he's made a lot of people eat their words

Scoring a goal from a perfect need some skill too....to be at the right place at the right time...
WHat I dont undertsnad, I've heard Venables, S.Pearce, Hasselbaink, A.Mc coist all praising Crouch...they are people in the game and professionals..
What are we? layman commenting on things that we don't see in training and not the plain view football from the line
someone who has 6 in 9 can't be bad...And important ones too...

i have a vendetta against players who shouldnt be there... people like owen hargreaves .. hes another. there are better players. crouch is a humiliation and wont do anything against proper teams. why was he nowhere near bent etc in the scoring charts? because he isnt in the same league of player. and people say he brings other things to the game but his assists werent that high either

Exactly, it wasn't the perfect ball anyway, there is no such thing, he timed his run and jump to coincide with where the ball was placed out jumped a 6 foot 2 defender and scored. Could you see Michael Owen do that?
No1 is saying Peter Crouch is a world beater but he does a job and he is very good at it.

but was Lampard worth to be in the team from his performance today? What did he bring? And he is supposed to be highly rated? So many chances missed....
Instead of blaming a goalscorer (an important and good goal too), better have a look at other players that were worst today

nah ive not played football, if you dislike a player thats your opinion just dont deny facts. If Crouch hadn't ran for the ball then Beckham looks stupid and its not a 'perfect pass'. But im obv fighting a lost cause here because crouch is a humiliation to your nation and doesnt deserve to be at the world cup

sxi04, he hardly had to move. ... and the point is when a player of beckhams quality passes a ball... 1) he knows where the attacker wants it 2) the attacker knows where its going because his passes are fuckin radar guided

no nath, you acuse me of not liking crouch because i support man u. i think gerrard is immense when hes on form, so that cancels that out. liverpool fans always called forlan because he was a united player... now look at him... top scorer in spanish league
