what brakes are they chris?
Ive got a gti-6 setup on mine. Stops ace but is spongy so am considering a change
Drives supercharged Tec with torque

Standard GTI calipers, set of drilled and grooved disks off ebay. Think people go for a 406 master cylinder or something similar to avoid the spongy pedal with the GTI6 setup.

My mate had the GTi-6 setup on his VTS Westcoast and they were awful 
I always said to him he needed a bigger servo or something, this information was required 7 years ago

they still arnt as spongy as the gsi's ones though
they stop well though so thats the main thing  although green stuff pads ftl

I never put the pads in as my current pads have a a good bit left on them, just the disks were badly lipped.

kamracing.com have discount on a mintex setup that are pretty sound  ermmm to stop the spongyness on bigger brakes just uprate the servo to a gti-6 one or similiar...dont think the is much problems in doing it clearance wise...im currently driving (may aswell say pushing) a saxo vts round...so much fun untill its that time of the month and a new problem crops up...mine at the moment needs new exhaust, another new alternator/pulleys or summat( ive replaced everything now...including 2 alternators, think the cam followers have gone...and the thing just makes me :'(. But brillant car! gti looks lovely there mate, the xsi was in a different league though  shame

I know just a shame the owner put new ones on a week before I picked it up
Had ds2500 on the CTR and thats what will be going on this.
Also found it has got an uprated servo so they shouldnt be spongy. Mayby they just need a rebleed or im just used to the ones on the civic

Tyres are OK for the MOT, might just get a set of 15"s and get eagle F1'f for them. I would fit the 205gti wheels, but I would need to respray them now as the yellow lip would look shite on it.

Well the pre-mot check i did never went well
Tired to put the cat into the magnex system, but found the join onto the silencer is split and needs welded.
Handbrake doesnt work at all on the rear passenger wheel.
And theres play in the bearing on that wheel too.

ive got to take mind in to get its exhaust welding.
Magnex silencer has cracked on the weld. Think ive twatted it on too many speedbumps/too much engine movement

Ouch, it was a sore one
My own fault really, never bothered to fix the blowing exhaust, so failed on:
Major exhaust gas leak
Emissons (CO)
Rear wheel bearing
Handbrake
Thats all I knew it was going to fail on, also got:
Number plate light bulb too dim
Offside front wheel fouling, think the wheel is catching the arch liners, will have to take a look.
Tiny bit of welding right on the towing eye at the rear, more a crack, easy weld.
Not as bad as I expected tbh, its pishing out gearbox oil from the seals

Tell me about it , slightly less hassle with a disk beam right enough.
Anyways:
"Fouling" fixed, was just the tyre catching the arch liner, chopped the fucker off
No.plate light fixed
Handbrake - Cable is seized, new one ordered.
Just leaves the exhaust (easy fix) and the bearing, stub axle is stripped I think, hub nut wont tighten. So got a replacement stub axle on the way, and I think ill stick a bearing on it too, £60 for the fucker though.

Never stops does it, I need to take the carpet up and weld some plates over the holes where the handbrake lever tightens too, like most 106's mine has excessive play

March, it flew through so I don't know. It's a fail though if the bolt holes are rusted enough to cause excessive play. Nothing to worry about yet like but it's something else to go on the list
