Basically, Haldex is a good system, but not as good as Torsen, if you require it.

You're also bringing your own definition of 4WD in to this when the reality is that Haldex drives all 4 wheels. So it's 4WD.

why is at a ridiculous argument
Quattro has a technical definition - haldex is not quattro so why label the car a quattro

ok so on that front my argument stands
Why does a 225BHP car need a Haldex system when most now have 250+ BHP and are FWD
The fact is everyone has stated the TT 4wd will good for winter etc blah blah
My argument is purely thas the TT is not what everyone is cracking it up to be
And lets be honest if the reason your buying a TT is so you don't get stuck in the snow then you are clearly missing the point - other cars will do that job much better
You are trying justify the reason for a TT having 4wd and the case doesn't add up f all you can say its useful for the 2 weeks of the year we may have snow
Plus how you define a car is different from each individual. However having owned one, they are dull to drive, have an awful ride but are a good car to own

Because 225 used to be the top of the range m8
My car would benefit from Haldex.

Haldex is Quattro m8
quattro was first introduced in 1980 on the permanent four wheel drive Audi Quattro. he term quattro has since been applied to all subsequent Audi 4WD models. Due to the nomenclature rights derived from the trademark, the word quattro is now always spelled with a lower case "q", in honour of its former namesake.
None of the above trademarks or nomenclatures defines the operation or type of 4WD system,

i honestly dont see why a 225BHP FWD needs 4wd - because its top of the range doesn't mean it has to have 4wd

25bhp FWD wouldn't need 4wd, I agree.
It's the same way a 110bhp diesel might have 4wd.
Or the same way a 200bhp Subura might have 4wd.
If you've owned a 225bhp FWD car for as long as I have, and where I live, then you will want 4wd (even haldex 4wd) in your next car. (Or I could just buy winter tyres and a spare set of wheels, but I'd rather have 4wd)
Also more fun on roundabouts too

Because quattro is now what Audi call their cars with 4 driven wheels regardless of whether its a Torsen or Haldex system.

Doesn't that bit there kind of sum it up. Quattro does not necessarily define it as being the old torsen quattro system.

9 pages, wow. Basically its a perfectly good system. I don't think its dangerous, I'd never use snow as a plus point as we get fuck all in the grand scheme of it but my car was fine last year, it drives 4 wheels, its 4wd imo.
Also, saying the tt/s3/whatever else doesn't need it. It probably doesn't but the only high powered fwd cars I have driven have been Astra VXR and Vectra VXR, I know they have a bit more grunt but my car is so much more planted from any speed whereas they are all over the show but maybe I'm Jeremy Clarkson and it was a VXR on 1.4 club suspension or something.

Id rather drive a 4wd heavier car that powers something to the rear. Than a fwd car. In a genralisation.
FWD is pants.
