This topic has just become a popularity contest IMO same group of users saying the same stuff all the time.
I agree CS could do with a new mod or two as general chat has become full of spam and topics that belong in classifieds or help zone etc. hopefully whoever is chosen can put up with the banter crew and help get things back on track, it's like watching a class room full of children on here half the time

in a couple of other forums im on, in the past they have asked members for nominations rather than getting people to put themselves forward. the reason they did it that way was because it results in a list of people that others think would do the job well rather than a list of people who want a bit of power or a free membership, candidates needing to be an active member of the forum for a couple of years with a good track record is also quite commonplace.
im not for a moment saying all or inded any of the people posting on the thread are not suitable just that i think it would help sort out someone who is suitable
