You've not long gave up sitting in a classroom all day and live in a flat in the city, I'm not sure how that's relevant to anything really? Certainly not whether it's sensible to drive with no shoes.

If you can't drive a car with shoes on you shouldn't be driving, simple as that.

You seem to be getting awful uptight about wearing no shoes to drive
I don't care about whether you do or not, whether or not it is illegal or you believe you can't get a stone between your foot and the pedal. My sole input into this thread is I believe it is fucking stupid and also more dangerous than not wearing shoes. The former point being backed up by the very picture you posted.

Not really John. It's evident from this thread driving is easily possible without shoes. Just admit it and move onto another thread and google answers for that perhaps?

I just think if you went to Cornwall and talked to surfers or went to the Lake district and spoke to sailors they'd be like yeah no big deal.
I was just picking up on the point Rich made, I can see its preferable to have some protection but I wouldn't be like NO NO NO DANGEROUS RUN AWAY just because you might hurt your little fragile office toes.

i have genuienly tried driving without trainers on, so just socks and its horrible.
you may have more grip but i genuinely dont feel you can apply as much force, for a very short distance fair enough but the spring back and stifness of the clutches in cars i drove made it VERY difficult.
also its stupid, i would say 99.9% of people prefer to drive in shoes or trainers, those who dont are the minority.
i would not walk from my house to the car barefoot? neither would i walk to the car with footwear on and then remove it to drive??

No, I'm not commenting on your right of opinion, just your ridiculous notion of getting a stone between your foot and pedal
