Ste I think you are missing the point it was said to Gervais with ill intent because he is black/half. It was said with the intent to upset him.

I really cant believe that people cannot grasp the concept that "generally" things said with a specific context in mind are said to cause offense.

I can take cunt etc, but using words based on my skin etc just because i am different and you think that its acceptable to ridicule me for that i found unacceptable.

Affected me more when i was younger due to the area im in, majority of the time i expect it when i go out so doesn't affect me as much, but that doesnt make it ok.

Fad, I fail to see how in this day and age people can still take offense to words like that when they are bandied around so readily by the music industry etc as acceptable forms of speech. I bet 99% of people who take offense don't even know why.
