Got a quote for front bumper respray and number plate recess smoothed, bonnet, quarter panels, rear bumper and diffuser to be painted.

Downfall is he cant do it until October time

Just ordered some more polishing pads, the ones i got the other day were 6" pads and seem too large for my 5" backing plate.

Also ordered the 3" backing plates and some small pads.

Do you find it sprays water everywhere, i was working the other night on a small area of car, and the water was flinging everywhere, the whole wing, bonnet and windsceen is covered in white spots now.

Before you even attach the head to the machine, put compound on it, use your hand to then apply the compound with the head to the car..

Spray the area with a light mist of water.

Fit the head, start at a slow speed then work your way up.. DONT push hard, DONT let it drag.

I put a pad on, got menzerna range of pads, (white, orange, yellow, black) and the menzerna polish, super heavy cut, heavy cut, and then some others like final finish, fast gloss.

I spray some water on pad first, just a couple of squirts and then pat off any excess, i apply about 8 spots of polish around the pad, they are about the size of a small pea split in half.

I then put that to the panel, speed it about at lowest speed and then increase the speed, i have been known to use the top speed. Then i just waft it about the panel and occasionally spray some water on the panel and run it over with the pad. Doesn't seem to take long before it seems dry and hazey but still quite a bit of polish on the car which is a right git to remove, i have been using super resin polish to get it off.

I do wonder if the polish i was using is too old, so bought some new stuff.

You're doing it wrong

Apply with hand first, and put the spray of water on the panel, that will prevent most of the spray (which will be coming from the pad, centripedal force is a bitch)..

Also go:

Compound
Machine Polish
Glaze

I would advise Farcela and 3M products..

Far too much product, you need about 3 little dots.

This has always been my routine and worked pretty well...

Pad on the machine
Light misting of water
3 pea sized squirts.
Manually move the polisher around the area to spread the product.
Pass over on slow speed working it in.
Over again on high speed to really work it.
Wipe off any excess.

Everyone has there own routine and process but that is the one I learnt along time ago and has not let me down yet.

I normally get quite a good result, i think i've removed quite a bit of the lacquer i applied so now attempting to polish through the two layers i sprayed on

Range Rover wheels. Think it's P38. They very heavy.

Bought them very cheap and I really like them on it. Not silly low as still gota be practical.

The 3 spokes are a love hate thing but I think being the split spoke
