Gearboxes are the worst I've used and the interior is crap quality. Starting to look really old now, even when modded.

Don't bother with the 1.2 but a Punto GT is a very fast car. Only a 1.4 so it should be cheap on insurance and road tax.
Thing is that they don't look nowhere as good as a Corsa C, exterior or interior!

im gonna check out the insurance on a gt, i had a quote online and 3rd party was bout £1100, hopefully its less if i phone. another problem is, to get a decent gt, i'd probly have to spend £3500 onwards!!

I'm afraid you would and the GT's are getting old now, I think you would get a decent one for about £3500 as you say. Good cars tho and Turbo! I think it's about 150bhp or upwards, for a 1.4 its very good. Bit surprised at your insurance qoute tho.

LMFAO at these comments. how many of you have actually owned one of these cars
1.2 16V is a nice engine. rev happy, produces power and is good on fuel but then it's still only a 1.2 so is not going to be that quick. 10.5s to 60. engines are good so long as you take care of them. the 1.4 GT is an old design but still effective in producing power.
mkoe room inside than a corsa and better on fuel. handling is not as good though but that can be solved with a decent aftermarket kit. gear boxes can be a bit knotchy but thats nothign to worry about. best thing to do is go test drive a few. also consider the 85sx. lower insurance but got smae engine as sporting. slightly slower to 60 but better mpg

Yeh the 1.2 16v engine gives my 1.4 16v Corsa C SRi a run for its money.
I think it has 90bhp as standard which I think is a lot for a 1.2

Have driven and nearly owned 1.4 GT (Inductin kit, Big bore zost, dump-valve, lowered 50mm) and couldn't get the grin off my face. Lost 7 yrs no claims and now own a Corsa 1.2 SXi (lowered 30mm, drilled air-box, big bore 4 back-box - next step, chrome pedals).
