I drilled my airbox today and now the car sounds like a beast, but it has not improved my performance.
I was wondering wot induction kit to go for to increase the cars perfomance. I am not sure which one to choose between the following:
- K&N 57i induction kit
- Pipercross induction kit
- PVD induction kit
- If you know of any more
- A perfornce panal filter to go with the drilled airbox.
Any help would be appriecated.
Cheers

if u want to increase performance then got for a sealed type induction kit, i.e. a pipercross viper

Stick with the drilled air box and get a performance panel filter, induction kits normally put the power down on corsas cos they suck on hot air off the engine, get some cold air feeds to ya drilled box and that will sort ya, you wont notice the difference it benifits the mods you do in the future, might make throttle feel a bit more responsive and might let the engine rev a bit harder at top end but thats all 3bhp i think you are likely to gain

I got a K&N panel filter in a drilled box on my GSI sounds so good, take out the plastic pipe thats in the box for a more resonating sound, the cotton gauze in a K&N is so much better than foam filters

Dont forget to take the pipe out of the top of the airbox, will be the best bhp per pound air filter you can get for a corsa then.
Get a foam panel filter as easier to clean than gauze and flows air well.

does drilling the airbox change the air to fuel ratio and can this damage your piston's and there bore's.
Is the pvd better than the pipercross.
cheers

i bought a k&n, whick sounded quality for the first couple of months, and i did notice a difference in throttle response. after a few months though the sound deteriorates.

no drillign the airbox does not affect your air/fuel ratio. the power gain is down to the engine not having to suck as hard and so the wheels see the power that the airbox was removing

this is not fact
1st run gave the viper = 119bhp
2nd run gave the K+N = 110bhp
3rd run gave the panel + box = 114bhp
where is N=3 all I see is N=1 what where the results for the wheel power. also whats the graph actually like. peak power means feck all unless it's strong under the graph. provide the printouts

Surely a less restrictive induction system allows more air to be sucked into the engine easier.
With slightly more air in the engine it will have to inject more fuel in there or risk pinking. Either that of retard the timing (which would defeat the whole purpose as youd get no real gain)
So it does affect the air fuel ratio and also affect power by not loosing as much on the induction stroke.
