hi, i'm very new to the engine modification world and i'm not doing this for a weee while yet..... but....what is actually involved in turning my 1.2 8 valve into a 2.0 16 valve (no funny comments plz guys).... i have a bit of money saved at the moment and want to wait until i have loads but at a guess, how much do u think the whole process would set me back? (including the engine) thx alot, steve

1500 is the going rate for engine fitting bits and fitting
do a search on here there loads of posts abouts it
few people on here that do them are

a few, as it isent that of a hard job really m8, you could prob talk somone threw it over the phone

Alrite mate, best thing to do is to search for this in the old posts as this is asked all the time.

Ure looking at around £700 for an Engine and Gearbox

About £700 for all the other bits

About £600 to have it all fitted

This isnt defo figures, but i think thats about what u'll be looking at.

yer, wots the best car to get a 2.0 from? i.e. which would be the least hastle to fit. wouyld it be that simple to coz of me being an 8v atm and wanting a 16v?

all the 2lt 16v are the same all as easy as the other, u just get what evers the cheapest
the job takes about 24hours.
all u will need as you have a 8v is a new rad and water tank. (off top of my head)
everthing else is easy
6 bolts, a bit of wireing and the rest is in the haynes.....

all depends on what u want 1500 get u a strate forward valver conversion with 16v brakes

il do u the full montey with rebuilt xe v6 brakes coilovers for about 3.5+vat

the 1500 option, it wont fall apart on me would it? i cud always do the 1500 option n then upgrade it rite? or wud i b buggered? wot sort of top speed would i be lukin at? and at a guess, how much dya think my cars value wud increase by? 1 last thing, once i have finished wiv my corsa, would i be able to sell it easily wiv a 2.0 in it?

no it will be fine, its more your basic spec, standard engine fitted with Astra GTE brakes (maybe a service).
only thing ontop would be the car would need lowering at least.
u can upgrade later ye
top end about 130-140
value not much really
selling should be easy as long as u are not asking silly money

also get a warranty with the full monty on engine (12k 12month)

i am also looking to do this conversion as soon as i can afford the insurance has any1 got a list of everything that i need for a 1.2 8v to a 2.0 16v and i mean absolutely everything bcoz i am hoping to do it myself
