199124 I would like to confess to impersonating a policeman. A loosely-termed friend wanted to wind up a foreign student at my university and gave me his phone number ... I called up to inform him he'd got a speeding ticket from a static camera and to confirm his details since he had a french - registered car. He was mortified and asked plaintively if there was a discount for students. I actually managed not to laugh, god knows how.
I just felt really bad because he seemed like a nice enough fellow, and I'd completely pissed on his entire week.
Soon enough I found out how surely the wheel of karma turns, as I rounded a corner and was nicked at 6 mph over the limit by a mobile speed trap.
While I'm here, I should confess to fantasising about doing horrible, horrible things to speed trap operators, and to not getting caught at all when I drove through Wiltshire at the imprisonable speed of 130+ mph...
Oddly, guilt does not trouble me over the last two issues.
