Everything engine (20xe) side of the loom is connected up apart from this one green wire at the end:
Does anyone know what it is? Is it for the rev counter?
Then it will just be connecting up the wires tomorrow inside the car
cheers!

PaulW, ur thinking of the lamda sensor! theres already a 3 pin socket from that plugged into the loom
Cheers Kris, so im guessing this connects to the coil then

Yes thats the rev counter wire.
Either join it to your corsa loom in the engine bay or join it fron the little plug by the ecu to the dash in the car

nope.. its definately not the rev counter wire cus i had the engine running today!
My mate reckons it might be for the knock sensor... but he's unsure if my engine should have one but there does seem to be a place in the back of the engine for one.
Engine was out of a G Ref Calibra.. does anyone know if the 20xe engine in these had a knock sensor?

It's the rev counter wire,
I have done shit loads of XE conversions and I own a Cav GSi
You dont need it to be connected for the car to run.

I think he means the rev counter was working without the the wire in the pic connected.
Rev counter wire is also green.
Im sure mine is connected, i'll have a look tomorrow to see what it's connected to.

yea thats what i meant colin.. that geeen wire at the end of the loom is not connected to anything and my rev counter was still working fine.
someone on msn also thought it was for rev counter and i told him the above. he said:
JJ says:
it shows u have good earths on the body
JJ says:
my mate whos an auto sparky said u dont need to connect it
if that makes sense to anyone.. lol

For the rev counter to work you can join the other end of that green wire from the little square plug by the XE ecu to the green wire at the back of the corsa dash.
That way it keeps it all tidy, Same for the temperature sender wire, the ecu light wire and the wire that needs to be earthed to flash the codes out if there is a problem

hmmm... something very weird to add to this post!!
As i said before.. even without the green wire attached to the dizzy my rev counter worked fine.
Out of interest i connected the green wire to the dizzy and tried to start the engine but it wasn't even sparking!!!
took the green wire off again and started no probs.
So i ask again.. whats this green wire? and is it perhaps related to my other post "ecu resetting" ??
sure hope someone can help to shed some light on this..
Cheers
