Some people sound deaden the corners inside the box obviously to prevent any rattle and to also help seal the box. Kris TD sealed his with fibreglass.
As far as fibreglass insulation goes, i think you will find people are doing that to make their box seem bigger to their sub.

You dont have to, its just to make the enclosure seem bigger to the sub.

When the fibres vibrate in the box the air pressure inside the box increases making the sub perform like its in a bigger box.
Some of the box makers on here could clarify it more but thats how ive understood it.

Its used to slow down the air movement inside, like filters. Slowing it down makes it play like in a larger box. The air in a larger box takes more time to move around as its a larger area, the air inside smaller boxes moves very quickly alowing subs to produce the quick 'kick' that small sealed enclosures do...

Adam not really, its mostly meant for sealed boxes. Sealed boxes tend to be peaky and produce too much higher bass notes (80/90Hz) which sounds bad through subs. The wadding just cuts some of this down, it doesnt make the lows any lower. For that you need a bigger box or tune you port better...
