so wat u mean to say is that where the alarm's red wire is the postive one cut a little bit and stick it on that? and the side to the negative part of the battery?

if you just take the pos and neg of the alarm, surely that will always be live, since its directly taken from the battery?
I would look for something that gets switch on when the alarm arms, like a seonsor or something (there must be a connection on the thing that does that), then either splice into it, on wacka relay on the thing and take oneside to the LED

one will be an earth mate, you can earth that anywhere on the car, under a body work bolt, to splice into a wire
disconnect the battery,
get the wire and cut a little bit of plastic off,
wrap the other wire around this and solder on,
then insulate using shrink wrap.

most alarms work off creating earth for auxillary outputs
if it has this option, u would connect the led to a live 12v and then connect it to the earth on the alarm
thats how my clifford circuits work for adding extra leds, scanners, and relays

ps - u could build a not gate or relay to work when power is off
or have it on all time
or on a switch

well M2RV H i do have the option to add ulta sonic sensors or a boot lock thing so i wonder if its that ur taking about. just had a look on the manual it says that the negative part could be added on to any eath source so if i connect the postive to the red which goes to the battery and the earth 1 to a bolt of my chosing should that work?
U can buy the leds from anywhere really maplins charge £1.20

it says on the description that the 3rd wire is a ground or sumthing, so yea, wack the led pos on live pos going to the alarm and the negative on the "3rd wire" and it should work mate
