i was driving down the motorway and me ecu light came on, driving didnt seem to change till i stopped and was ideling, the rev counter was going up and down below 1000 rpm and the engine sounds like its misfiring. it still drives and doesnt seem to have lost power unless very low revs(trys to stall) can anyone help me with this problem cos i aint got a clue what it is?
its a corsa sport 1.4 16v p reg
il read the ecu fault code if i can, il find out soon.

christ could be a number of many things:
Idol control valve
Throttal Positional Sensor
Inlet manifold
Inlet manifold gasket
Map reader
Air mass meter
ECU
1 of the wiring looms
lose connection from 1 of the wires connecting the sensors to the ecu
find the problem by doing the paper clip test on the ecu
failing that send it down to a proper vauxhall main agent and leave it with them, they shouldent charge for trying to find the fault, just the part and labour to fit when they do

u missed off egr valve that can cause the light to come on without any major symptons and is quite common as is the idle air control valve.

does any1 know where the connector is to connect the paper clip to read the fault code? i cant see it

mine was doin that the other day so i went and got it checked out and it was the idle control valve..so i bought a new 1 (£91)
then paid £20 to get it fitted
now my cars running sweet again

ah ha! its the egr valve. wot is it and where is it? how much will it cost to fix?
