work out the difference between each of the numbers, and then work out the differnce between these.

then take one away from other and do it again.

The nth term rule is the one you can put any value of n in and it'll give you the number at that place in the sequence.

1 sqaured = 1
1x2 = 2
2+1= 3

2 sqaured = 4
4x2 = 8
8+1 = 9

etc...
