80 mph on motor way will be nice
I can happily cruise at 85 mph, 70 mph is a bit too slow to cruise at.

its been proven that the least accidents happen on motorways so will increasing the speed limit increase the number of accidents?? Im not really sure to be honest but Id say the average speed on a motorway is probably about 80ish anyway if your not stuck in traffic.
Defo think 20 is a good idea near schools

well.. as far as i know there are more accidents over here on our motorways than there are on the autobahn, and that is an open speed limit.

I think 70 is still a good speed limit. with 70 most people do around 75-80 anyway. put the limit up to 80 and people will do almost 90. not every one wants to travel so fast onthe roads and this will mean a greater difference in speed. the French have a twin speed limit. bad weather etc reduces the limit by 20 mph or so.
also not all autobahns are derestricted

20 mph sounds good but as vibrio says on motorways the more it is increased the more that people will push it again.

This is true but the Germans are so much better drivers than most of the uk, as soon as they have overtaken they move over into the slow lane, not just sit in the middle and fast lanes like so many cocks in this country, its one of the reasons why our motorways are always blocked, cus people dont know how to drive on them!

i wouldnt mind 20 near schools so long as it was only when they are likely to be walking out.
if the speed limit is 20, even at night, and they whack a few cameras up i wont be best pleased

take into account the size of Englands motorway network and the volume of traffic passing through each day......

100 is a bit excessive! 80 or 90 would be fair enough though. I was on the M6Toll on Sunday night, and almost everyone heading south on there was doing over 85 - the traffic was flowing so smoothly and easily.
So perhaps we should just have toll motorways with higher limits?

Toll Motorways, r u stupid or a MP?
we pay enough money to run cars, why the fuck should we pay more
80mph on motorway is a good idea, 20mph near schools is also good, but say after 7pm its put back up to 30 or whatever it is where the school is
