Ive got a corsa sport 1.4 16v R-Reg, ive been using it for about a year now, and the engine management light would come on now and again, and i would stop the car and switch the engine off, then back on and it would be fine, but 2nite things have got really bad and the light keeps coming on all the time, and the engine stalls in motion (which is dodgy as hell) and when its idling it stalls aswell, and i smelt a burning smell i think, also the speedo keeps dropping to Zero every few minutes. Any help would be great.

i shorted out the correct pins on ALDL connector and im getting these flashes on the managment light 1flash, 4flashes, 10flashes=0, 5 flashes and that loops around and around so thats 1405, my fuel system is the simtec 56.6, so according to the chart for the fault codes it is the Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR) valve
Anyone think im right or wrong ?

If thats the case the wire for the EGR valve may have come off the manifold..

Oh in that case the wire will be ok and the valve is most probably knackered.
You'll be needing a new one.

i had a similar problem matey!!!!
my car would drive along and it would feel abit poor... and then the temp gauge would go sky rocket and then the car would just stall....
u had to wait 2-3 mins before the car would start!
after having all my sensors checked and trying a number of thing (ie service, change the dizzy) the problem still existed!
this happened over the x-mas period.... when it was cold!
i found that when i look inside the pipes leading from the rocket cover.... they were filled with mayo..... its meant to gather up when its cold and u do alot of short journeys (due to the condesation)
Once cleaning them out my car was and had no problems since!
check the pic below of the pipes to check!
also check ur pipes in ur engine bay for any slipts or hole....
hope u get it fixed mate!

had same prob with mine, driving along and when i slowed down, engine stalled in motion (while travelling to blackpool from scotland which was a pain in the arse!)
told it was the mass air flow meter, so forked some cash out to get it fixed, only to find out it wasnt that atall!
turned out to b the crankshaft sensor! has been fine ever since! worth getting it checked out tho
hope this may help u!

what did that cost ?
the air flow meter was £110 2nd hand, but if i had bought i brand new, vaux quoted me £280!
the crankshaft sensor was £60 inc labour as it only takes a min to fix.
wouldnt go bak to vaux tho, they had 5 mechanics at my car, all scratching their head and they even asked if i knew what was the matter with it! i was like i wouldnt b hear if i knew!

just out of curosity see if your fag lighter works, if i take the fuse out of mine the speedo dosen't work and the engine cuts out if your dip your clutch while driving, other than that when you start it does it sound like the starter is slow, if so the wire to your starter is shagg*d, and burning meaning a new starter is needed, not cheap at a garage. need any more help u2u me.
