my stereo is working fine, but when I turn the ignition off, take the keys out and put the kettle on, power is still getting to the unit, the only way to stop it is to turn it off.
Is this because the ignition cable on the HU is wired to a constant power feed?

yes your red and yellow wire will be connected to the same bullet whip you hu out and put red to yellow and yellow to red and it should work fine then
