i will have a alpine component set up front and a set of 6x9's behind, will i need an amp or will sound quality be ok? to go with my alpine mp3 player???

the speakers will almost definately sound better with a half decent amp. What are the RMS ratings of both?

really depends on ya headunit. Some of the higher specification Alpine headunits hav alot of filters and features on them that can make a system sound pretty dam good with no amps at all. U wil probably always get to the point where u want an external amp that wil giv u more power tho

U will not need an amp but it will sound better with one. I have changed from running alpine comps and JBL 6x9's off the hu to running them from a alpine MRP-M540 and it is MUCH louder and clearer, i wud seriously reccomend it.
Just make sure u buy a decent amp, no sony crap !!!
