Firstly i hate march........
now for the reasons:
1) i take apart my let to find i need new pistons and a new head, fair enough, i paid £300 for a whole car with a let, what do i expect..
2) the clutch goes on C4, nearly leaving me stranded halfway down the M1............arse
3) i have no money
and the forth is the best and has really annoyed me
4) i bought a gas flowed head off someone on here a few months ago to put on my gsi, never got round to it and have recently sold it on, only to receive this message from the person:
Hi,
not meaning to offend, I am a little concerned about the authentisity of this head. I took it along to an engine machine shop today to see if I needed to have the ehad skimmed, and I was told that the exhaust valves have Never been out of the block and thus dont have the brass spiral cut stuff done to them, he said the way you can tell is simple.
I have been told that the head has done 1000 minles since rebuild, call it 2000 miles to allow for rule of 2. firstly there is no way you could reseat a valve with that much build up on it and secondly they would not have cracked in the way that 1 of them has fairly bad and another two are on there way. as for the inlet side, he said they were cleaner but valver 3 fails to shut and as such looks like it is possibly bent and will need an overhaul.
I am now left with a bill of £100 + vat to do the valves and an extra £40 + vat for the skimming. thats £164.50, so nearly as much as you charged me for the head.
He said the small amount of work done on the inlet has most prob just been done usig something not too dissimilar to a dremmel. I feel cheated and annoyed as this head has now cost me double what it should have done, based on being told that it was read to fit.
I dont really know what to suggest as I dont wish to fall out over a piece of cast alloy however if the tables were turned I would prob offer a small reinbursement. The company I took the head to was Malvern Rebore,

now you can imagine how this guy feels, and i feel really bad and am extreemly peed off, im gonna end up out of pocket, with no way of tracking down the member who i bought the head off in the first place.
looks as tho my let conversion and b/kit is gonna hafta wait some more

it was sold to me as a gas flowed head, built by panther motorsport, with spiral cut valves, brass guides, triple angle valves and seats,
if the exhaust valves have never been out, how can they be triple angle ones, and how can they have brass guides, and the fact a valve may also be bent is gay

Matt - be slightly cautious, in the same way when I go to buy a car I point out loads of faults to get some money knocked off, he might be complaining to get some money back... 
Also - you got a LET engine for £300???  Bargain!

i feel for ya matey, i was sold that duffer of a C16XE, i bought it for £500 and its cost me well over £1000 to sort, the engine i bought dont exist now, the £1000+ was spend re-building my original motor, for the £500 engine i bought all that remains is 3 pistons, lol, i never got any money back off this kid cos i aint got a leg to stand on basically, you dont have to pay him in the eyes of the law but i would have felt better if this guy off here has given me some compensation, not to mention names, lol
